…it’s been our HOME since 1922 !
Who better to show you this region than from local New Zealand *born* & Maori operators whose family has lived in the area since 1922?
Many tours visit Muriwai beach and the gannet colony, but we are the tour who actually lives here and because our family were the early pioneers to this region, much of Muriwai Beach history was experienced on a first-hand basis!
What does this mean for you?
It means that if you take a tour with us you will be getting the “real McCoy”
And, because we only operate in the region where we live, all the profits go directly back into our community. Your tour’s Carbon Emissions are also offset in Coast to Coast Tour’s own Carbon sink-tank Reserves, (you’ll have your owntree growing at Muriwai) which again directly benefits our local community. With strong focus on the environment these days, isn’t it nice to know the tour you take is Sustainable?
ALL of our Auckland day trips include the wild and rugged coastline of Muriwai Beach
– that’s right –
(unlike on other Auckland day tours!), you don’t have to choose it as an “option” !
50km (30miles) long, with unique black iron-sands, and home to the takapu gannet sea-bird.
1.2 million [-human-] visitors see this colony each year – a truly world-famous Auckland attraction, and it’s just 7 minutes to our historic farm and Homestead!
We get phone calls all the time asking if there is a bus to Muriwai Beach…sorry to report, there are NO Public buses to Muriwai Beach !!
…They did trial one several years ago, but it was stopped due to lack of patronage.
So that is why we visit there on every tour.
…you may even be lucky enough to see the Muriwai Beach Blowhole in action!
But you will definitely get to appreciate the difference between Auckland’s two coasts, and learn about Auckland’s two harbours.
…and during a Christmas vacation you will be able to see the Pohutukawa (New Zealand Christmas tree) in flower along the Muriwai coastline.
Coast to Coast Tours is an Auckland Regional Council Approved Operator which is allowed to take tourists to specified parks. Every commercial tour operator which visit Regional parks has to pay a fee. We have to pay to visit the Muriwai and Waitakere parks, (the cost of this is included in the price of your tour). This is a way in which the Auckland Regional Council can monitor the amount of people using these natural areas. Unfortunately, this registration to become an Approved Operator tends to be abused (even by large companies), so please check that your tour provider is a current and Approved Operator!
(we are still awaiting CURRENT passcards to be issued)
